Ode to the Tuliptree

(Liriodendron tulipifera)

Shakespeare used the term "trippingly" to refer to a lilting or nimble effect as in "trippingly on the tongue" rather than bombastic speechifying referenced in his Hamlet directives.  The Latin name of tuliptree should thusly be spoken trippingly.  Try saying it out loud; it's very elfish and fairy-like trills befits the "trippingly" term the Bard first used in "Midsummer Night's Dream."

If you removed cherry blossoms and flowering magnolias from the early April landscape, you’d see that the very start of spring is a pretty empty affair. Yes, the whole plant world is now stirring, but there’s a lot of inertia to overcome, and it will be another couple of weeks or more before we feel we’ve stepped into spring proper.

Dough Mama was one of the newcomers in our Best Bites: Bakeries event back in February, but that didn’t stop Perrie Wilkof from wowing the crowds with her Maple Bourbon Pecan Mini Pies (voted 3rd favorite dessert that night). In fact, her home-based business has done so well since launching back in September, that she’s already making the next step forward into becoming a brick-and-mortar business in Clintonville.

COTA Approves New Bus Pass Program for Downtown Workforce

There is some progress. A few years ago I was on contract at Ohio Department of Education and wanted the contracting company to buy a bus pass. That was rejected but they paid for a parkind spot at the Leveque Tower for an outrageous amount.
