Census: Columbus Ranked 13th Fastest Growing US City


The US Census Bureau released initial estimates for the period running between July 2013 and July 2014 earlier this year, which showed the Columbus Metropolitan Area gaining 25,504 people and Franklin County gaining 17,559 people. Updated numbers released today for that same time period show the City of Columbus proper gaining 12,421 people, making it the 13th fastest growing city in the US.

Young Trees Need Training

The purchase has been made and the trees are in the ground.  You may ask, "What is the next step?"  In addition to immediate water and maintenance  practices to deal with broken, rubbing or misshapen branches, the next five years is very important for both the establishment and training of the shape of the tree to come.

Gallery Hop May 2015

With near-perfect weather and springtime excitement in the air, the Short North was alive and buzzing this evening for this month’s installment of Gallery Hop. Patios were filled throughout the district with diners and drinkers, sidewalks were filled with arts patrons and shoppers, and there were plenty of extra sights, sounds and smells to take in ranging from food trucks to furries and street protesters to street musicians.

BYGLers have begun to hear from homeowners about Carpenter Bees (Xylocopa virginica) and notably their hovering aggressive behavior that tends to bring them into conflict with humans.
