Proposed 5-story Clintonville building to grow with added land
The five-story building with apartments and stores proposed for the heart of Clintonville is growing.
Northstar Realty is in contract to acquire the former Clintonville Electric site, giving the company control of the west side of N. High Street between W. North Broadway and Brighton Road. That gives the developer more room to expand the project to 66 apartments, from 60, said Jackson Reynolds, Northstar’s zoning attorney.

Columbus Opens City’s First Protected Bike Lane to the Public
While cyclists have already been utilizing some of the completed portions of the new bike lanes along Fourth and Summit Streets for several weeks, the new project officially opened to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony held yesterday afternoon by city leaders. The new installment includes the first protected lane in the City of Columbus, which runs along Summit from Hudson Street to Eleventh Avenue — a major thoroughfare in the University District.

Valley Dale Ballroom Reopens with Help by Made From Scratch Catering Firm
After spending the better part of 2015 closed, the historic Valley Dale Ballroom on Sunbury Road is scheduled to reopen this month under the control of new management. Locally based catering and event firm Made From Scratch will be taking over the day to day operations, following the completion of renovations to the main ballroom.

American companies are falling back in love with downtowns
A June 2015 report from Smart Growth America, global real estate advisors Cushman & Wakefield and the Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis at George Washington University School of Business detailed the recent trend. The report, “Core Values — Why American Companies are Moving Downtown,” tracked nearly 500 companies that have moved or expanded in downtowns in the last five years. Those businesses covered a wide range of industries, from professional, scientific and technical services to information, finance, insurance, manufacturing and retail.
