How to Make Compost for your Garden

Every year, hundreds of thousands of tons of organic matter ends up in landfills. These sadly wasted fruit and vegetable pieces, leftovers, etc. are full of nutrients and vitamins that your garden soil needs to stay healthy and productive (and to keep your plants healthy too!). Making compost is, simply, the act of taking organic matter (vegetable and plant pieces) and turning them into rich friable (crumbly) soil for your garden.

Downtown “Micro Living” Developments

Nearly a year ago, a redevelopment project at Front Street and Long Street was announced that would bring some much needed affordability to the Downtown core of Columbus. Three empty buildings in a prime location would be converted into “Workforce Housing”, a term used by Mayor Michael Coleman during the 2014 State of the City address.
“When we began this effort, I said that Downtown is everybody’s neighborhood — but when it comes to housing, it’s not,” stated Coleman last year. “Our success has been tempered because not everybody can live Downtown. If you cannot afford $2,500 rent for a two-bedroom apartment, then you cannot live Downtown, even if you work Downtown.”

2015 Economic Forecast Calls for 21,000 New Jobs in Columbus

Predicting that it’s going to be a pretty good year is an altogether rare and fun thing for an economist to say, but that’s exactly what Bill LaFayette, owner of Regiononmics, foresees for Columbus in 2015.
“[The Columbus Forecast] is calling for an increase in employment of about 21,000 in 2015,” LaFayette says. A 2.1 percent gain, that’s a touch above the predicted U.S. average of 2 percent.

It's not exactly news that Downtown Columbus is in the midst of a residential renaissance.
