State jobs shift to central Ohio

Many Ohio metro areas have been slowly losing state-government jobs over the past 25 years, putting a further drag in recent times on economies still staggering from the brutal recession of the past decade.
The government jobs haven’t disappeared. They’ve just moved — to Columbus. Of course, as the state capital, Columbus would be expected to have the most state jobs.

A New Place in Upper Arlington Showcases an Art Collection

A co-parenting situation becomes infinitely easier when the parents live close to each other. In Katie Langmeyer’s case, the proximity is right around the corner.

“I wanted to stay in Upper Arlington,” says Langmeyer. “I wanted to downsize, I was on a single mom’s budget. Upper Arlington is a tricky neighborhood to stay in if you don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of money to remodel.”

Columbus Ranked #1 Opportunity City of 2014

Columbus, Ohio, was supposed to be just a temporary stop in 2006 on the way East for Josh and Niki Quinn, a place to save money and plan their new business.

A few months into their Columbus camp-out, they decided to stay put. “As we started comparing Columbus and what it had to offer with the other cities, especially when cost got factored into it, we saw that we would be able to do something right away, and on a larger scale than we would in other cities on the East Coast,” says Josh Quinn.

Explore Columbus: Tour an Urban Winery

“I have embraced the fact that we are a true urban winery,” says Harvey. “I like being different. I like surprising people when they come in.”
Visitors come to Signature Wines for many reasons but the tours and tastings are the main draw. These are hosted by Harvey herself, the winemaker which is somewhat of a rare treat in the wine industry. In a former part of her life, Harvey was a biologist who worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Her experience in that field makes her tours all the more unique.

Mojo Tago in Powell

It’s been four years since Brian Reed began offering the people of Columbus the chance to get some seriously delicious tacos on-the-go. The Mojo TaGo trucks are among the most popular in the city, regulars at festivals and events.

Food truck season is typically from May to October (Ohio weather permitting), which has limited Reed, and several other truck owners, and caused them to halt their businesses when the days turn cold.
Timing is everything, however, and when the property at 24 Grace Drive in Powell, formerly C. William’s Bistro, became available, Reed saw it as an ideal opportunity to not only expand his operations to year-long, but to grow his brand as well.
