Fresh figs — soft, sweet and creamy-delicious — mystify many cooks.
Like other summer fruits, they’re in season now, but many people have little knowledge of figs beyond the Newton.
The reason for that: Unlike dried figs, fresh figs can be difficult to find in supermarkets.
Larger central Ohio stores often don’t stock them — California grows most of the U.S. figs — because they can spoil before they sell.
